1.8 Thoughts?

Is there a plan for the 1.8 transition? Are we switching immediately, or waiting to see how buggy it is first?

It seems like it will have some pretty cool features.
I'm probably most excited for the new biomes (swamps, deep oceans, and giant mushrooms)
It will be nice to have leaves and glass act more like regular blocks.
I will be sad that we can no longer have clouds go through buildings. (No more skull mountain fog)
I don't know how I feel about the food bar, I guess we will see how much it changes game mechanics.

Pigs will have snouts ~

I like playing with glitches.
Let the code express how it really feels.

1.8 PREreleased today

My first 1.8 world is messed up because of this furnace bug. Whenever i try to smelt/cook something, it will come up with "saving blocks". It gets stuck in this infinite loop thingy until I close the client.

Yeah, I kind of suspected stuff like that might happen. Have you been able to log onto the dirttown server today? I have been completely unable to get in.

I have been trying throughout the day, but haven't been able to.
Last I heard minecraft.net was down.

It depends on if the clients force us to auto-update. If everyone is auto-updated to 1.8 then I am going to have to change the server over, that is, assuming that i will need to download an update for it or something. It's possible the server software won't change.
